First Choice America’s “People Helping People” scholarship applications are available online by clicking on the following link: People Helping People Scholarship Application. The scholarships are for $1,000 each. Applications must be turned in by March 1, 2027. Qualified applicants must be a high school senior, high school graduate, or equivalent and do not have to be a first-year student. Applicants may attend any accredited college, university, or trade school. The applicant must be a member of First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union. Complete guidelines accompany the application.
2026 Pink October
As we have done for the past eleven years, our offices will be donned in pink decor in the month of October. During this time, we will be selling ribbons/logos to raise money for Breast Cancer charities. Our staff will also be donating money to dress down during select days in October.
First Choice America cares about the communities we serve. We are proud to announce that over the past eleven years we have raised over $83,000 to assist worthy charities in the battle against breast cancer.
Golf Tournament Honoring Local Legend Set
First Choice America Credit Union made a generous contribution to the Ron “Fritz” Williams Golf Scramble to take place at Mountaineer’s Woodview Golf Course on Saturday, August 22nd. The outing pays tribute to the late All-American basketball player at Weir High School and West Virginia University who was a No. 1 draft pick in the NBA. All proceeds from the tournament benefit The Fritz Williams Scholarship Fund.

First Choice America Recognized
First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union was honored by Weirton Mayor Dean Harris on Monday, July 6, 2026 at a ceremony dedicating a mural in downtown Weirton. The Credit Union worked in conjunction with the city to utilize its parking lot to facilitate Sarah Robinson, an Oak Glen High School graduate, to paint the beautiful mural. Mayor Harris further recognized First Choice America as a prominent community leader and commended the Credit Union for its long-standing commitment in helping the Weirton community whenever needed. Accepting the award from Mayor Dean Harris is Scott Winwood, President and CEO of First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union.
WSX 25-Year Club
Supported by a generous contribution from First Choice America Credit Union, the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club will stage its ladies and men’s annual summer picnic on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds in Weirton. The 25-Year club has been in existence for 80 years. This year’s picnic is for the employees and retirees of the former Weirton Steel Corporation/Arcelor Mittal/Cleveland Cliffs.
