Supported by a generous donation from First Choice America, Weirton Rotary’s Touch a Truck event will be held Saturday, July 29th at 10am to Noon at Starvaggi Park in Weirton. Along with the variety of trucks for children to see and touch, there will be free admission to Starvaggi pool for anyone under 10.

Supported by a generous contribution from First Choice America Credit Union, the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club will stage its ladies and men’s annual summer picnic on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds in Weirton. The 25 Year club has been in existence for over 75 years. This year’s picnic is not only for the employees and retirees of the defunct Weirton Steel Corporation/Arcelor Mittal plant with 25 years of service but also for active employees at Cleveland Cliffs.

Helping to fight the battle against cancer, First Choice America Credit Union renewed its Silver Sponsorship for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The 2023 Relay for Life of Brooke/Hancock Counties is scheduled for Saturday, June 3rd at Central Park in Wellsburg from 6pm to 10pm.

April was Teach Your Child to Save Month! A great start is at First Choice America with our Cool Kids Cash Club. It’s never too early to start saving.
During the month of April we had a few contests to get our youth excited about saving.
Our first contest was a coloring contest. It was open to children in Kindergarten to 4th grade. We had many entries, and the committee really had a difficult time picking winners. Kindergarten winners are Emma Starr, Georgia Doggett and Elizabeth Szydlowski. First grade winners are Luna VanRossem, Aria North, and Michael Collett. Second grade winners are Amari Gegas, Ariya Rhodes, and John Panconi. Third grade winners are Nathan Kirk, Amiena Faulks, and Adalyn Rice. Fourth grade winners are Gabrielle Crossland, Kolvyn Gibson, and Kristopher Wasmer.
Our other contest was for students in 5th thru 8th grade. It was an essay contest. In one hundred words or less we wanted to know the answer to: At what age should you start saving for the future and why it important?
Fifth grade winners are Valentina DiBacco, Michael Soos, and Catherine Tirona. Sixth grade winners are Christopher Jonczak, Sophia Quattrocchi, and Zoey Ronevich. Seventh grade winners are Tyee Barish, Milana Busby, and Erica Hartline. The eighth grade winner is Grace Stouffer.
First Choice America Community FCU recently received first place in the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Program from the WV Credit Union league for 2022.
First Choice’s entry showcased its philanthropic efforts toward local charities, with emphasis on leadership and volunteerism. First Choice America maintains its intensive, year-round community involvement practices through financial support, as well as countless hours of support by its officials, management, and staff of a variety of charitable organizations throughout the Ohio Valley.
Dora Maxwell was an original signer of CUNA’s constitution and a tireless organizer of hundreds of credit unions nationwide. She also developed volunteer organizer clubs and worked diligently with organizations on behalf of the poor. The Dora Maxwell Award is presented to credit unions for outstanding social responsibility projects in their communities.
