FALCON – A FRAUD DETECTION SERVICE

Your Credit Union VISA credit and debit card transactions are now protected against fraud by a fraud detection service known as FALCON.

Here’s how it works:

  • FALCON assigns a risk score to each of your VISA credit/debit card transactions.

  •  High Risk Score – The Credit Union’s Card Service Center will attempt to contact you in person at the telephone number we have on file to verify the suspicious transaction(s).  If the Service Center representative is unable to reach you and suspects that fraudulent activity is taking place, a temporary block may be placed on your account.
     

  • To ensure that the Service Center is speaking with the authorized cardholder, you will be asked to verify the last four digits of your Social Security number.  The Card Service Center does not ask for the entire Social Security number.  You have the right to refuse to provide any portion of your social security number; however, doing so may cause a temporary block to be placed on your VISA debit or credit card to protect you against suspected fraudulent activity.  
     

  • Low Risk Score – You will be contacted by an automated call system, which will:

  • Identify that the call is from the Credit Union’s Card Service Center.
     

  • Ask you to speak your name to confirm that you are the cardholder.
     

  • If you are unavailable, a message will be played asking you to return the call to a toll-free number.
     

  • If you are available, you will be asked to enter the last four digits of your Social Security number on your telephone keypad.  You have the right to refuse to provide any portion of your social security number; however, doing so may cause a temporary block to be placed on your VISA debit or credit card to protect you against suspected fraudulent activity.

  • You will also be given an option to speak to a FALCON representative.

  • If the automated call system reaches an answering machine or voicemail system, the following message will be left for you:

 “Hello.  This message is for (cardholder name).  This is the service center for your Credit Union’s VISA credit/debit card account.  We are calling to verify recent activity that has appeared on your account.  Please give us a call at 1-800-437-9392.  We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Again, the telephone number is 1-800-437-9392.  Thank you.”

  •  When you return an automated call, the system attempts to verify you by comparing the phone number you call from to your home or business phone number on file. If the phone number matches the one on file, the transaction verification procedure will begin. If the phone number cannot be matched, you will be asked to enter the number where you received the message. If the phone number still cannot be matched, the call will be immediately transferred to a FALCON representative.
     

  •   All calls to you are placed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. in your time zone.  You may call the Service Center at any time – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Please call First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union at 1-800-427-4835 if you have any questions.
